Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in OBX

St. Patrick's Day OBX

St. Patrick's Day OBXWhether you are Irish or not, St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most exciting spring celebrations to take part in here in Nags Head.

From car shows to parades there are festive events and activities going on all along the coast.

Once you read about the fun you can have here at Surf Side Hotel, we’re sure you’ll be packing your suitcase with green colored clothing faster than a leprechaun can hide his gold!

First Flight Cruisers Shamrock Car Show

The excitement begins on the morning of March 11 with the First Flight Cruisers Shamrock Car Show. Featuring more than 200 vehicles, the show will continue throughout the entire weekend, allowing your family plenty of opportunities to explore the unique and fun atmosphere throughout nearby Kill Devils Hill, North Carolina.

Admission is free, so bring the whole family! Children and adults will love seeing antique automobiles decked out in green and gold for St. Patrick’s Day.

Kelly’s Running of the Leprechauns 5K & 10K

Also taking place on Saturday, March 11, Kelly’s Running of the Leprechauns lets you get active while on vacation.

Participate in the 5K or 10K run, and then enjoy a delicious bowl of Irish stew and a pint of beer prepared by Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant & Tavern at the post-race party.

Hosted at Outer Banks Sporting Events Center right here in Nags Head, the good times will continue all through the morning and afternoon at this celebratory event. To register, click here.

28th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Head back down to Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant & Tavern on Sunday, March 12 to celebrate the holiday with Nags Head’s 28th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Watch as floats and participants decked in green march down the street, and don’t forget to keep your eye out for a leprechaun and his pot of gold!

The parade begins at 1 p.m.; winding from the intersection of Blasden St. and Virginia Dare Trail to Driftwood Street. And don’t forget to head to Kelly’s right after. There will be live music, free hotdogs and green beer flowing all throughout the afternoon.

With so many festive events to participate, we’re sure you will want to join us in OBX for St. Patrick’s Day. Once you’ve signed up to participate in the 5K or 10K race, all that’s left to do is book your Surf Side Hotel stay.

We look forward to seeing you here!
