Summertime and the living’s easy! Nags Head is blossoming with beautiful weather and vacationers. All coming to enjoy our oceanfront rooms, sandy beaches and exciting summer events. As if you needed another reason to vacation in the Outer Banks, we give you… The Rogallo Kite Festival! The festival weekend is a great time to head down to Nags Head and experience all there is to offer while enjoying good ol’ fashion family, kite-flying fun.
The 32nd Annual Rogallo Kite Festival will be held June 7th-8th at Jockey’s Ridge State Park and Jockey’s Ridge Crossing. The best part about this year’s event is it is FREE to the public! That’s right, a cost-friendly activity for the whole family!
The annual Rogallo Kite Festival honors Francis Rogallo, an accomplished NASA scientist and inventor of the flexible wing. Without his intelligent pursuits and creativity, the sport of hang gliding might never have been seen. His inventions have also carried over into the art of stunt kites and power kites.
The event will include two days of kite flying in Francis Rogallo’s honor. During this festival, Kitty Hawk Kites will also have his ideas and inventions on display. Attendees will be able to see these displays, learn how to fly various kites, learn the craft of kite making and participate in other fun-filled weekend activities!
Come down to the Outer Banks, fly a kite or two and see what keeps our guests returning! Click here to book your next well-deserved vacation!
