Are you looking for a holiday activity to take part in during your December stay with Surf Side Hotel? The nearby Elizabethan Gardens will be transformed into a winter wonderland this December! Located on Roanoke Island, the gardens provide a beautiful an enjoyable escape for guests of all ages. And to celebrate the Christmas season, a special event for children will be held on December 19, 2015.
Called “This Day Has Gone to the Birds,” the morning program is focused toward children age six to 12. Your kids can enjoy holiday stories, make crafts and learn about local wildlife while you enjoy some time on the beautiful and historical Roanoke Island.
This afternoon event will begin with the telling of the story “Merry Christmas, Merry Crow” by Kathi Appelt and will continue with craft time. As your kids learn more about the birds that reside in the garden, they will be able to make edible ornaments of oranges and pinecones. These treasures are perfect to take home and hang on a tree outside as a birdfeeder. The afternoon will be wrapped up with a healthy lunch and a movie about birds!
To reserve your spot, contact The Elizabethan Gardens at 252-473-3234. The cost is $15 per child. After the event, we recommend sticking around to view WinterLights. Visit with Santa and walk through the garden, illuminated with Christmas lights and decorated with holiday displays. Tickets cost $11 for adults, $9 for youths between the ages of six and 17, and $6 for children age 5 and under.
Once your tickets are purchased, visit Surf Side Hotel to book your December stay. We look forward to your visit!
