Just a few hundred yards down the beach from the Surf Side, there is so much to do all summer long at Jennette’s Pier here in Nags Head, Outer Banks! From paddle tours, learn-to-fish sessions, science classes and more, there are many weekly family activities that your kids will love. Check out some of our favorite events below:
Stand-Up Paddle Tours
This weekly excursion takes place at 8 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays from June through August. Take a two hour stand up paddle board tour through the ocean or sound with an instructor who will teach you all about the creatures that can be found in the Outer Banks! The cost is $55 per person and children age eight and up are welcome to join. Those 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Sponsored by the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, this fishing class is offered Monday through Friday at 9 a.m., as well as 2 p.m. on Wednesdays. The course teaches basic fishing skills as well as fish identification, how to cast and tie your rigs and more! Tickets for the two hour class are $15 per person ($8 for kids five and under) or $20 for the lesson and an all day fishing pass!
Catch-it Clean-it Cook-it
This delicious class is perfect for fishing enthusiasts age 12 and up! Spend three hours learning to catch, clean and cook your own meal, then enjoy a fried-fish lunch on the pier. The course takes place Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. and costs $35 per person. All youth participants must be accompanied by an adult, so turn this learning experience into a family adventure!
Creatures of the Night
Creatures of the Night takes place each Wednesday of the summer at 8 p.m. Learn about animals that can be found along on the Outer Banks coast at night, then head out with a flashlight, bucket and net to find them yourself! Bring a sweatshirt and enjoy this hour-long adventure at the pier for $5 per person.
