January Events in OBX

January OBX VacationAlready tired of shoveling your driveway, brushing the snow off your vehicles and having to bundle up in multiple layers every time you head out the door?

We recommend escaping the snow for a little while with a January vacation to the Outer Banks.

Here at Surf Side Hotel you can wake up every morning to the beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and temperatures in the 50s. Not only is there wonderful weather to enjoy, there are also plenty of events and activities for you and your family to participate in.

From musical quartets to chocolate making classes, Nags Head has it all going on in the month of January.

Free Admission Day at the North Carolina Aquarium

Experience all the excitement of the bottom of the ocean, without having to travel more than 15 minutes from your hotel.

The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island is always tons of fun for families, and they are offering free admission to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. on January 16.

Stop by with a nonperishable donation to the Roanoke Island Food Pantry and learn all about the underwater creatures of the Atlantic. Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, the aquarium always has free learning programs for your young ones to participate in!

DIY Chocolate Workshop

If you have always wanted to find out what goes into making chocolate, now’s your chance to learn!

The Elizabethan Gardens is hosting a DIY chocolate making workshop on Saturday, January 28. Come by for a day of chocolate making fun at one of the most beautiful places in OBX.

After you’ve honed your skills – and had a few snacks – we recommend you spend some time exploring the gardens’ incredible sights. To learn more about the class and to enroll, click here.

Ciompi Quartet: A Concert of Chamber Music

Ciompi Quartet, a group of Duke University professors and musicians, will be performing an array of well-known musical pieces – both classical and contemporary.
