October is here and we are ready for some spooky, seasonal fun at Surf Side Hotel! The Outer Banks is filled with haunted activities for families of all ages this month, so check out our favorite activities below to begin planning your Halloween vacation!
The Island Farm Pumpkin Patch is found on historic Roanoke Island and is open every Saturday in October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including Halloween. Take a trip back in history with ox-drawn hayrides, scarecrow stuffing and more. Be sure to wear your costume on Halloween for a spooktacular surprise!
Visit Roanoke Island to take part in Psycho Path ‘The Terror Within’ at Fort Raleigh National Park. Visit the most mysterious island of the country for the scare of a lifetime any Friday or Saturday evening in October. Open from dusk until 11 p.m., this frightening attraction costs $15. Purchase your tickets ahead of time and pay an extra $10 to avoid the line with Ghost Passes.
Another haunted trail in the area, Wanchese Woods is open from dusk till 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday evening of the month and provides scary fun for the whole family. Send your teens down the haunted trail while the little ones visit the new children’s area, Boo Acres. Start your Halloween morning with some creative family fun before heading out to the spooky evening activities with a short trip to Dare County Family Recreational Park for the 26th Annual Artrageous Art Extravaganza. Check out the art vendors and enjoy some food while your kids try their hand at painting, drawing, jewelry making and much more. The festival is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and live music will be played throughout the day.
