If you’re an avid runner who enjoys some light competition as well, then come join the festivities in Cape Hatteras, NC for the 4th Annual Run in the Sand 5K and Fun Run. Registration will begin at 8:00am on Saturday, May 2nd and will end thirty minutes before the race at 9am. Not only will this give you a chance to get out, get active and have some fun, but the whole event will also be benefitting Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the North Carolina Law Enforcement Assistance Program.
The one mile fun run will begin promptly at 9:30am, while the 5K race will take place 30 minutes later at 10am. The quick one mile Fun Run/Walk start at the old lighthouse site, and will continue all the way out onto Lighthouse Road. While those partaking in the one mile run will simply finish back at the old lighthouse site, the 5K runners will make their way towards the water and past the Unknown British Sailors Cemetery before turning back towards the starting point.
Following the end of the race, awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers along with additional prizes at 11:30am at the Fessenden Center. Just make sure that you register sooner rather than later if you’re interested in adding another race t-shirt to your collection! And honestly, who wouldn’t want to wear their accomplishment with pride?
