Spooktacular Halloween Events Taking Place across OBX

Halloween Spending Halloween weekend with us at Surf Side Hotel? Even though the weather is getting cooler there are still plenty of outdoor activities for you to check out. Regardless of how you are looking to celebrate the autumn season, Saturday, October 29th is packed full of fall activities that visitors of all ages can participate in.

Here are some of the most exciting events taking place in OBX during Halloween weekend.

Wooden Boat Show

An annual event that takes place on Roanoke Island, the Wooden Boat Show takes visitors back in time with new and beautifully restored wooden sail boats.

Take your family for a walk along the Roanoke Marshes lighthouse docks, checking out all the unique boats that are on display.

You can even cast your vote for the “People’s Choice Award” winner, which will be announced at the boat show award dinner in the George Washington Creef Boathouse. Tickets to this portion of the event cost $10 each and can be purchased at the boat show.

Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., this event is an enjoyable learning experience for children and adults alike. Don’t forget to stop by the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum’s Shad Boat to go sailing yourself!

Harvest HayDay

Another great event for the whole family to attend, Harvest HayDay takes place at the Elizabethan Gardens from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 29. Your children will love the opportunity to adventure the hay bale maze and explore the gardens on a hayride.

There will be plenty of fall flavored snacks, as well as harvest themed crafts like scarecrow stuffing.

Youth tickets cost $6 apiece, adult tickets are $9 and children age five and under get in free.

The Beer Witch Project

Wrap up your Halloween-themed afternoon with an adult-only evening event. The Beer Witch Project involves a social beer mile run as well as a costume contest, live music and more!

Ghosts and ghouls will be serving up drinks at the Outer Banks Brewing Station, where you will check in between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The race starts and 7 p.m. and the spooktacular festivities will continue on through the night. Be sure to dress in your Halloween finest; awards will be given to the individuals with the scariest and most creative costumes!
