Celebrate the Outer Banks’ rich fishing history at the Outer Banks Seafood Festival this October. Held at the Outer Banks Event Site right on the Albemarle Sound, the event is within easy walking distance of Surf Side Hotel. Enjoy a day of delicious food and family fun from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on October 17, 2015.
With a wide array of OBX restaurants participating this year, the mouthwatering scents of shrimp, oysters and crab will make us all hungry! Grab your favorite coastal cuisine and head to one of the day’s cooking demonstrations to learn some tips you can bring home to your own kitchen. Musical performances will take place throughout the afternoon and a variety of artisans will be on site with handmade jewelry, home décor, kitchen goods and more.
The Outer Banks Seafood Festival hopes to share the area’s nautical lifestyle with visitors through food and fun. Families have been fishing the waters of the Outer Banks since the 1600s and many of today’s local fishermen come from generations of ocean farmers. Until the 19th century, fishing was for sustenance, but commercial fishing is now an important piece of the local economy. Interested in learning more about the region’s history? Come down for a visit!
Tickets to the festival are only $3 per person and children under the age of 12 are free. Purchase your admission tickets and some SeaBucks ahead of time, then book your stay at Surf Side Hotel to prepare for the ocean fun. We can’t wait to see you here!
